RECAP:
The group were still in the prison cells. They had just freed Baik Telor, and determined that the elf on death's door was Hasan, Rahasia's betrothed. A short debate occured whether they should head back to the Elven Village or push on. They were low on spells and many were injured, but they pushed on none-the-less. Intending to investigate the bedroom with the panthers in it.
First, they investigated the one room nearby that they hadn't done previously. It was not a cell, but was a small room of similar size, barred with a large iron gate. Beyond was the bottom of a shaft, wet and slick sides rose up into the darkness. The bottom of the shaft was protected by large, leather bound mattresses. Molly looked for, and found the copper coin she had thrown into the well far above, and now knew why it made no sound.
Happy, with this resolution, the party went to eliminate the panthers.
Plans were made, spells were cast. Molly made Narlia invisible, whilst Hawt Pantz cast Bless, hoping that it would turn the tide of the battle. Baik and Hasan were kept out of the way, in another room. The door was open and all hell broke loose.
The panthers were viscous, apex predators. And in the fracas, Narlia who was now visible, fell. All were wounded severely, some moreso than others. But in the end, the panthers were slain at a terrible loss.
R.I.P Narlia
Happy took Narlia's magical sword, and the elf was laid out in a more dignified position. The group then searched the bedroom, but were dismayed to find nothing of value. Had Narlia died in vain? Apparently not, as a secret door was discovered, but there was no catch or lever, and Molly believed that it was an arcane triggered door that would require a word or phrase. Molly and Hawt Pantz investigated the library nearby, but were unable to find one in short order. Instead, they took the body of Narlia and the critically injured Hasan back to the Elven Village.
At the village, the Elves were indeed grateful to see the group. Though they were saddened at the party's loss, they were over joyed to see Hasan alive. Rahasia especially was thrilled that her love was free of the evil Rahib.
Rahasia went and informed the families of the two maidens and then returned with the Elders of the Village. They were grateful with what the adventurers had done so far to aide them, and each was gifted with a magical healing potion. Hasan, likewise gifted the group with the heirloom of his house, a magical ring, as compensation for saving his life and reuniting him with his love.
The group were also introduced to a human mercenary, Raggard, who had arrived recently in the village. With Raggard now in tow, and Baik joining the group as well, they rested and set out on the next morning.
Down the group went to find the secret of the hidden door, and after much searching in the library, they were successful. The secret door led to the remains of the Tower of Elyas, and the group entered finding the place blasted, covered in soot and debris. Soon after entering, the group came across the bodies of two humans, a man and a woman, in rent and slashed leather armour. No weapons or wealth could be found on the bodies. They had been picked over very well. Nobody recognized the two, but they were laid out a little more dignified and away from the passage.
Suddenly, as the group were moving through the complex, a large, hulking figure approached from the blackness. An Ogre! It bellowed at the group and moved in. Molly ran, whilst the warriors moved to fight the creature. It carried what appeared to be a wooden strut as a weapon, a massive lump of hardened wood. The fight was short and brutal, but the ogre was defeated without too many injuries dealt by the beast.
Ogre defeated, the group continued, but were shocked to find that they had been surprised by a massive Red Dragon. Before they could react, the massive creature belched forth flame. Three of the group fell, screaming and incinerated, but the rest were not harmed and saw the Dragon for what it was, nothing more than an illusion. Those that had 'died' were roused to find that they were unharmed.
The illusion wasn't bad, it was minor even, but as Molly said, had the Ogre happened upon them whilst half the group was unconscious from it, it would have been much worse. The group agreed and moved on to find a room with a glowing red wall that offered no heat. After the last room, they continued, not wanting any truck with what magic fueled it.
A great room filled with treasure met the eyes of Hawt Pantz and Baik and both felt compelled to rush towards it, only to find that they crashed into a wall that was before unseen. Hawt Pantz shook herself free from the compulsion, but Baik rushed again, and again injured himself. Hawt Pantz called for help as she tried to restrain Baik. Happy moved into help, but upon seeing the treasure, he too rushed for it, the greed of gold upon him. Like the two before, he crashed into the wall, as did Baik again with Hawt Pantz unable to restrain him. Both continued to crash into the wall, inflicting injury after injury upon themselves. Selanthia came to assist, and was not overcome with the lust for wealth, and she saw the illusion for what it was. A crudely drawn pile of gold.
Eventually, both overcame the lust for gold, and with faces bruised and bloody, they beat a retreat from the insidious trap.
As they wound down for the day, the group came across a map room with hundreds of map cases. Some were empty, some had maps in them, some had bottles of wine hidden within.
Hidden, acidic wine
Taking a bottle, Hawt Pantz drank from one even though it smelt acidic, instantly collapsing to the ground and nobody could rouse her. For an hour she dozed, before waking suddenly with a tale of a nightmare that she experienced. Three dragons stood in a circle staring and glaring at a younger, smaller dragon with a single eye. Whilst she had been out, the group found another 74 of the Purple Grapemash No3 wines. Now, they rested.
But it seemed that their presence was accounted for. In the morning, as they opened the door, the group came face to face with six sallow humanoids. Hobgoblins! They stood behind a barricade and loosed arrows with deadly accuracy. Molly sent half of them to sleep as the melee warriors closed. The fight was short and brutal, all six of the goblins were slain, and whilst none of the group were slain, many were badly injured.
The door to the room was closed, barred with pitons from the other side. Trapping the party in the room with he Hobgoblins. Already, many were injured again, some badly.
