RECAP:
The group tried to determine if they should head back to the Elven village or stay in the temple. In the end, they split. Hawt Pantz led those village bound, as she was determined to have a good, safe nights rest to heal and recover spells, before the group would tackle the Bone Golem again. With her went Molly, Narlia and Kel. Shooter, Happy and Selanthia remained in the temple, finding accommodation each in a small meditative alcove.
Those back at the Village were once again treated as heroes, as more of the Siswa had been freed. They recuperated with rest, relaxation and good food and wine. The three in the temple however, did not fare as well. Midway through their resting time, Selanthia who was on watch spied a group of six skeletons, approaching from all the directions. Selanthia called to her friends, alerting the Skeletons to their presence as they stirred. The fighting was short and bloody with both Selanthia and Happy being cut deeply and often.
The three then decided that staying in the Temple was not the best idea, and so, tails between their legs they fled back to the village in the dead of night.
Together again, the group rested a couple more days so that the fresh wounds could be healed with the help of Hawt Pantz's spells. But now, it seemed that there was a general feeling growing amongst the Elves, that the group was taking too long. It was felt that the lives of Sylva, Mersia, Rahasia's father and her betrothed (Hasan), were in dire threat and the group cared little for them.
After resting, Molly advanced a level.
The group had a plan for the Bone Golem, with both Elves and Molly leaning heavily on Magic Missile, and the group to wait out the construct at the door with defensive positioning. Arriving back at the Golem's room, the plan worked perfectly, though the Golem did still manage to make it into combat with Happy and Shooter, missing the halfling but striking the Fighter for not insignificant damage.
With the threat removed, the group investigated the raised platform behind the altar, and discovered a well concealed, but not truly hidden trapdoor. It descended into a small, cramped passage of stairs underneath. The group descended, Narlia and Happy leading the way.
However, the two in advance soon fell to the ground, twitching and seemingly paralyzed with fear as a chill wind and swirled mist formed into the ghostly phantasm of an elderly elf. His voice echoed in the room, as though it reverberated through the walls itself.
"By the Rahib's hand
Was I here felled
and long awaited
you to come.
Rahasian's pain
I have dearly felt
But you have come
To free her.
Hasan is in the dungeon south;
My gold is toward the north.
An ally in the Dragon Guard
Waits before the gold.
The Rahib is but a pawn;
A darker evil lies below.
The Dragon Guard knows the story
And Guards the way below."
The haunt appeared to be that of Rahasia's father. As soon as his final words were uttered, the chill wind dissipated his restless spirit. With the ghostly form gone, Happy and Narlia were able to raise to their feet once more and continue with the group.
Continuing, the group opened a door to a library. A large table covered in sheets and parchments partially obfuscated a man in a black robe. Stunned at the man's presence, most were unable to act as he began to chant. Happy however, raced in sword ready to swing. The chanting stopped and Happy fell, with a crash, to the ground. Nobody moved to Happy's defense as the man then loomed over him with a heavy, wicked looking mace, instead they fled the doorway and so only heard and never saw the mace impact with Happy's skull.
Readying themselves for action, the group now raced in. Happy lay in a pool of blood. Swords and arrows flashed, but the man was a deadly adversary. This surely was The Rahib. Kel began to try and circle around him with stealth, hoping to land a deadly thrust with his dagger, but The Rahib saw him and avoided the blow. Just as The Rahib called for his two skeleton attendants, Molly finished the fray with a well timed and placed web spell. The Rahib was caught. As were the skeletons and Kel. Narlia tried to attack The caught Rahib, but his sword also became stuck in the sticky mass.
Shooter had, during the fight, dragged Happy's apparently lifeless form from danger. Now, he poured the remaining contents of his potion down the fighter's throat. Miraculously, Happy opened his eyes. He was alive.
The Rahib was questioned, with the threat of death over his head. He offered only a few pieces of information, seemingly knowing that he was doomed anyway. Sylva and Merisa were dead, or gone. Their bodies had been inhabited by ancient witches, witches who had helped give him the power to control and command the Siswa. The Rahib also mentioned that he had fought the Dragon Guard and lost. Retreating from it. He would say no more however, and was executed.
Molly lit the remaining web alight, to destroy the Skeletons, but the flames licked at the papers and parchments and began a fire that threatened to destroy all of the library. The group quickly put the flames out and saved what they could. The papers seemed to discuss the building of the Temple by the Elves and Dwarves to honour the tower of the wizard Elyas.
The group then found, in another room, more papers. This time it was mainly to do with pictures of the abducted maidens, maps and notes on the Elven village as well as information on Rahasia. Doubt began to creep into the minds of the adventurers who feared that Rahasia could have been working in league with The Rahib all this time.
Further investigation of the Temple discovered a large, plush room with an extravagant bed. Upon the bed, two panthers lounged lazily. The demeanor of the cats changed quickly when the door was opened, and it was shut and wedged by Kel using pitons and a hammer. The panthers growled in frustration as the group proceeded to investigate elsewhere.
Through one door, a large serpentine creature was found. It hissed at the characters as it viewed them with glowing red eyes. But they didn't attack, and well they didn't. For this beast was Ular-Taman, last of the Dragon Guard.
Ular-Taman seemed to view the characters suspiciously at first, but after a short discussion, seemed to view the group with less malice and distrust. The Dragon Guard spoke with a sibilant voice and told them of the history of the Temple, specifically the battle that Elyas had with three evil witches in the past, and how those witches had been trapped by Elyas, but not before they brought down a mountain upon his tower. Even more now, the group began to question the innocence of Rahasia. Two witches had been freed, perhaps a third had too. Ular-Taman gave some hope that Sylva and Merisa could be saved, for he said "The witches were trapped within the tower, perhaps when they were freed the innocent were trapped in their stead".
The group left the Dragon and found another room with KESINI and KESANA above alcoves. It was now apparent, after the discussion with the Dragon Guard, that these were something to do with the transportation of supplies and provisions from outside the Temple to inside and then within. Molly tested with a copper piece in one alcove, and sure enough - the coin vanished.
Finally, four Siswa guards, slightly confused, were discovered guarding Prison Cells. They promptly surrendered when it was demanded of them by Narlia. Their weapons confiscated, they were told to head back to the Village. The prison cells contained only two prisoners. One, a badly injured elf who was only semi-conscious, and the other a man in chainmail. The man likewise appeared badly injured, but as Happy approached, the man lept to his feet and attacked with an improvised club made from the cot in his cell. Happy was struck more than once by the man before they were able to convince him that they were not Siswa.
The man's name was Baik Telor, a warrior and companion of Alki who the group had already encountered and assisted. Baik and Alki were allies of two others, a Dwarf named Barack that Baik said was dead, and a young human girl called Brooke of whom he had no knowledge of her condition.
They asked Baik if he knew the way back to the Elven Village, but alas, Baik didn't know where he was currently or how to get back. For now, he was stuck with them and they with him.
