Pathfinder Arena Games

Well, we have had a very long hiatus, both from this blog and from gaming in general (longer for the former than latter).

To get back into the swing of things, we will be doing a bit of Arena Gaming.  Effectively WWE with Pathfinder.

Rules for Character Generation

  • Classes - Any Core Book PC class (Fighter, Rogue, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Sorcerer, Wizard, Paladin, Ranger, Barbarian, Monk)
  • Abilities - 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8 arranged as desired. (level and racial bonuses not included)
  • Level - 5th
  • Hit Points - Maximum at first level, then d6=4/level, d8=5/level, d10=6/level, d12=7/level
  • Gold - 15,000gp
  • Equipment restrictions - no item > 6000 gp, equipment only from Core Rulebook.
  • Spells/Spellbooks - all spells in spellbooks other than those obtained from levelling, must be purchased as scrolls first and then scribed into the book. Spells only from Core Book.
  • Feats - Any Core Book PC feat only.
If something is not mentioned above (such as Traits or Archtypes), they are not used.

The Battles
Players will face off in 1v1 battles, with the occasional grande melee also included.
  • During a battle, a player can yield in their turn as a Swift Action.
  • If a PC dies during a battle, it will cost them 1000gp to be resurrected.
  • If a PC has a familiar, mount or animal companion that dies during battle, resurrecting that creature will also cost 1000gp.
  • Each player will be able to prepare for the battle.  They can choose the spells that they want (if they use memorization), based on their opponent and the map.  Combatants may not activate magical items, cast spells or use spell-like abilities at this time, though they can make any changes and alterations to their equipment.
  • Each player begins with 1 round of in-battle preparation, where they can now activate magic items, spell-like and special abilities and cast spells.
  • After 20 rounds, if a fight has not yet finished, each combatant will begin to suffer damage at a rate of 1d4/round.
