RECAP:
The group hammered out the pitons that held their door closed and after looting what was useful from the Hobgoblins, they continued through the ruined tower.

Soon they came across what was a series of cells.  Most were empty, some with damp, smelly and sometimes moldy hay and one that had fresh hay that had been laid in on the floor with strong, sturdy chains running through an eye bolt in the wall. Perhaps this cell was for them, or some of them?  Who knew? But not all the cells were empty.

As one cell door was opened, movement from within heralded somebody in the darkness.  A few mumbled words later, and many of the group hit the ground, slumbering, before a bolt of energy slammed into Happy. Happy, injured only lightly rushed in, sword swinging.  But his blow fell wide of the man chained to the wall.  The man, lashed out with a small, flimsy dagger as Happy's shield crashed into the man's chin, smashing his jaw and knocking him out.

He was chained by his feet to the wall, but his hands had been worked free.  Not knowing where his allegiance lay, he was moved to a more comfortable and less smelly cell and chained back up.  When he was conscious he would be questioned, but this was the best the group felt that they could help him and keep themselves safe.

The final cell was full of webs, and in it was a large spider with red markings.  The predator attacked, and Happy felt the full force of the arachnid's bite.  Quickly the door was closed, trapping the spider.  Happy began to show the signs of being poisoned, and Hawt Pantz tried to help him as best she could, though it looked like Happy's time was soon to expire.  But the Cleric was able to assist.  And though Happy lost consciousness from the venom, he was ok.  He was laid down to rest in a comfortable place as the group determined what to do.

Giant Spider in its web

Eventually, they decided on a plan to eradicate the spider.  And the plan partially worked, attempting to draw it out from its lair.  But it was only injured, trailing ichor and goo behind it as it retreated.  Selanthia followed it into the room full of webs some five minutes later.  But the spider, though appearing to vanish, was only hiding in the upper reaches of the web.  It dropped on the elf and bit her badly.  But it was injured, and quickly dispatched.  Thankfully for the Elf, it appeared that the spider had performed a dry bite, and she was spared the pain of poison.

Gravely wounded and with Happy fighting for his life against the spider venom, the group waited til he was safe to move and then retreated to the Elven Village once more.  There they rested, recouped and planned for the next night and day.

After resting, Hawt Pantz went up a level.

On the way back to the Gray Mountain and the tower underneath, the Elves spoke of setting a watch over the mountain. A shudder had passed through the mountain they said, and evil humanoids such as Goblins and Hobgoblins could be seen entering the Temple.

Still, the group returned and faced no threat until they entered the tower again.  There, they were beset by the Hobgoblins they had slain earlier, now raised as Zombies.  Though the Zombies managed to strike a few for solid blows, Hawt Pantz's faith kept them fleeing for the most part, and thus allowed the group to take them out in relative safety.

Confusion then reigned supreme, as the group bickered and argued about which way to go.  Time was wasted and the group went hither and thither, unable to decide.  Some indeed walked back and forth down corridors and halls without achieving anything of substance.

Finally, the group made a decision and passed a set of large, metal doors into a long corridor with alcoves north and south.  In each alcove was the statue of an adventurer made from what appeared to be platinum.  However, after inspecting and testing the statues, it was found that it wasn't solid platinum, but rather platinum plated.  Underneath the thin sheen of platinum, in gradually increasing thicknesses were layers of gold, electrum and silver before meeting a a copper core.  Still, Jimmy advised that he thought they'd each make for a decent profit.  But the statues were lighter than they should be, considerably so, and this caused concern for everyone as it was apparent that magic was at play.

The statues were left temporarily as Selanthia and Raggard moved into a large, round room with three statues surrounding a deep well in the center.  The words Pah and Nwad were engraved at different points on the wall, and it was soon discovered that Pah called a blue disc up from the bottom of the well and Nwad sent it down the shaft. Selanthia jumped on the disc, even though the rest of the group weren't inclined to head down.  A short game of Pah-Nwad occurred between Selanthia and Raggard as one tried to make the disc go down and the other up, but eventually Raggard tired of the game and Selanthia descended, ALONE.

The group couldn't believe that Selanthia would descend by herself, but had left much of this level of the Tower unaccounted for and wanted to explore it to make sure that nothing had been left behind.

Soon, almost as though being led by the nose, the group came upon a kitchen.  As some were exploring the larder and feasting on roast meats, fresh bread and cheese, Molly and Hawt Pantz were surprised to see one of the Elven Maidens they were looking for walk around the corner. It was Merisa.  Though they knew something was wrong when in the common tongue, Merisa ordered a tame panther with her to attack and then began to cast a spell.

The Elf Maiden : Merisa

The panther launched itself into Hawt Pantz, drawing blood, as the Elf Maiden cast a spell upon the two and a few straggling warriors.  All but Molly fell into a mystical slumber.  Now in single combat with the panther, Molly had no choice but to entrap it within a Web spell.  Sealing the group from Merisa, but allowing those still in the kitchen to come to Molly's aid.  Those sleeping were roused, the panther slain.  But there was no sound of the Elf Maiden on the other side of the sticky strands.  Carefully it was burned away.  But no sooner than the Webs had been destroyed, the Goblins waiting in ambush on the other side launched their attack.

Arrows flew and struck.  But the goblins were outskilled and outnumbered.

They fought til two remained and tried to surrender.  But after a brief questioning period, both were slain.

No sign of the Elf Maiden was to be seen.
