RECAP:
The group were travelling through the Elven Forest when they came across a dead Elf. The Elf appeared to have been the victim of a bandit attack, having no valuables left on him. However bloodied but still intact, was a missive, written in Elvish, by an Elf Maiden called Rahasia. Her letter was a plea for help. Her village was beset by a curse, her father and betrothed were missing, and the young men of the village who worshiped in the nearby Temple (the Siswa) were all held under the sway and mystical influence of an evil stranger known only as The Rahib. Further, the Siswa were now responsible for the kidnapping of two other Elf Maidens from the village.
--[ Rahasia's Letter ]--
The group, spurred on by the desire to help, or the lure of a possible reward, headed for the village which was nearby.
There, they met the maiden Rahasia, who advised them in person of the pain and despair wrought upon her village by The Rahib.
Rahasia
Rahasia took the group towards the Temple, where the Siswa were trapped. On the way, she stopped at the Roadside Shrine to burn some incense in an offering for the success of the group and the safe return of her family and friends. The Shrine was small, but well built. Inside was nothing but an altar and the large statue of a human man sitting on an altar, strong of build and with a long beard.
Rahasia then continued taking the group to the Temple that seemed to be built into or out of or under the Gray Mountain. She approached no closer than half a mile, lest the Rahib try to catch her. The group though, continued on, nearing the large stone walls and the iron gates that were not locked and were easily opened.
Inside, the compound was a large courtyard, overgrown with weeds. A pool that could conceivably have been once pristine was now brackish, black and smelly. Quickly, the group set about investigating, and Agon was startled when he disturbed a couple of rats in the tangle, though they were more frightened of him and fled for the safety of a small building.
Splitting up to begin searching, Olvena was suddenly attacked by a squat, winged creature with skin like stone and a horn atop its misshapen head. A gargoyle! Olvena's blow was strong and accurate, with a peal ringing out like that of metal on stone . But the creature seemed unaffected by the blow from the Dwarf Maiden's warhammer. Magic was needed! The group leapt to the fray to protect their member, and soon with blades flashing and spells whizzing, the beast lay dead with only minor injuries to the Dwarf Warrior. It had some coins in its lair, and these were soon collected.
But no sooner had the group defeated that enemy, than another approached, disturbed perhaps by Agon or brought to the for by the noise of the battle with the horned gargoyle. Two undead skeletons approached. But 2 against 8 were not favourable odds and the undead were soon quickly dispatched.
The group continued to search the courtyard, finding more money in 2 leather sacks, both labeled as "Tithe". These were only full of copper pieces though. Agon, with a self-made and rather flimsy 10' pole, began to probe at the water to see how deep it was and what might have been in there.
It was more than he would have liked however, as a weird, serpentine creature made entirely of water rushed from the pool, up the pole and to the Dwarf. Agon was completely taken by surprise, and his body went numb from the cold and clammy touch of the strange thing. As his allies moved to help him, the Dwarf was lifted bodily from the dirt floor and slammed headlong into the water. It was cold and slimy, with a soft, silt-like muddy bottom. Agon fought to try not to lose consciousness or be drowned as his friends valiantly tried to save him, though Hawt Pantz and Olvena jumping into save him wasn't the best idea, especially after Hawt Pantz smashed her magic Warhammer into the dwarf, almost crippling him. With Agon trapped underwater, the weird creature began to look to the others, but it was now outnumbered and its advantage of surprise had been used. A few well placed hammer blows soon dispatched it, and Agon was freed.
Heading down the stairs from where the Gargoyle came, the group found themselves in an area of the Temple with lots of small rooms, obfuscated by heavy curtains. As they began to search them, two small groups of Skeletons approached, shortswords and shields at the ready. The fight was short and quick, the group outmatching the undead and ending their existence.
Eris then, fell foul of a poison dart trap on a chest in one of the rooms, but thankfully, though he looked dead, he was just in a deep slumber. The chest contained some coins and wine but nothing else of interest. The group then debated whether they should leave Eris behind on one of the cots or take him with them, the took him with them for fear of what might happen should his body be left unattended and found.
Still they searched the small rooms, before being ambushed by the Siswa. Eight of the Elven Acolytes rushed from behind the heavy curtains, swinging their sabres and a fierce battle looked about to happen. However, Molly used her magic talents to put all of the Siswa to sleep. The Elves were innocent, charmed by the evil Rahib, so they were moved to the cots but disarmed of their weapons and not harmed further.
Nothing more could be found behind the curtains.
Leaving the curtained hallways, the group entered what appeared to be a mess hall. Long benches filled the room, with evidence that they were used for group meals. Two alcoves to either side of the room were empty, but labeled. The one to the west "KESINI", the one to the east "KESANA". But these words didn't mean anything, at least not in any of the languages spoken by the group.
Leaving the dining room, the group continued searching the temple, only to be confronted by 2 armoured Siswa. These guards in chainmail underneath their robes immediately attacked, scoring a couple of hits and drawing considerable blood, but they were felled by vicious blows in turn.
Molly remarked that it was sad that they Elves had to be killed, but that there was nothing that could be done about it.
